What's the Difference Between THC and CBD?

THC and CBD are the two main compounds in cannabis. They work differently and produce very different effects.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

THC is the compound that gets you high. It produces the euphoria, relaxation, altered perception, and appetite stimulation that most people associate with cannabis. The higher the THC percentage in a product, the stronger the psychoactive effects. THC binds directly to CB1 receptors in your brain and nervous system, which is what creates that distinctive "high" feeling. Effects typically include heightened sensory perception, increased creativity, mood elevation, and physical relaxation. The intensity and duration depend on the consumption method—smoking and vaping hit faster but wear off sooner, while edibles take longer to kick in but last considerably longer.

CBD (Cannabidiol)

CBD does not get you high. Instead, it's known for producing a calm, relaxed feeling without the psychoactive effects. Many people use CBD for stress relief, sleep support, pain management, and general wellness. It's a great option if you want benefits of cannabis without the head change. Unlike THC, CBD doesn't bind directly to cannabinoid receptors—it works more indirectly, influencing your body's endocannabinoid system in subtler ways. This makes it appealing for daytime use, work situations, or anyone who wants to stay clear-headed while still experiencing therapeutic benefits.

How They Work Together

Some products contain both THC and CBD. The CBD can actually moderate the effects of THC — making the high smoother and less intense. Products with a balanced ratio (like 1:1 THC:CBD) are popular with people who want mild effects without going too strong. This phenomenon is part of what's called the "entourage effect," where different cannabis compounds work together synergistically. If you've ever felt too high from THC, CBD can help counteract some of that anxiety or paranoia. That's why many experienced users prefer products with at least some CBD content—it creates a more well-rounded, manageable experience.

Common Uses for Each

Understanding what people typically use THC and CBD for can help you make better decisions when you browse our menu. THC products are most commonly chosen for recreational enjoyment, creative activities, social situations, pain relief, and help with sleep. Medical users often turn to THC for appetite stimulation, nausea relief, and conditions involving chronic pain or muscle spasms.

CBD products, on the other hand, are frequently used by people managing anxiety, inflammation, seizure disorders, and general stress. Many customers use CBD daily as part of their wellness routine—similar to taking vitamins or supplements. Athletes and active individuals often choose CBD roll-ons and topicals for post-workout recovery and targeted relief without any intoxicating effects.

Which Should You Choose?

  • Want to get high? → THC-dominant products (most of our flower, vapes, edibles, concentrates)
  • Want relaxation without the high? → CBD products (our CBD section has capsules, roll-ons, and pet CBD)
  • Want something in between? → look for balanced THC:CBD products

Reading Product Labels

Every product on our menu shows THC and CBD percentages. When browsing, pay attention to these numbers:

  • Low THC (10-15%): milder effects, good for beginners
  • Medium THC (15-25%): standard potency, most popular range
  • High THC (25%+): strong effects, for experienced users

CBD products typically show their CBD content in milligrams (mg) per unit — more mg means a stronger dose. For CBD, start with lower doses (10-25mg) if you're new, and work your way up based on how your body responds. For THC edibles specifically, the mg dosage is what matters most—start with 5-10mg if you're a beginner, regardless of the percentage listed.
