Edibles
Forty-five minutes in, you will think it is not working. It is — the liver just takes its time, and that is the whole difficulty with this category. Gummies, chocolate and infused snacks, same-day across Miami-Dade and Broward.

How long do edibles take to work?
Smoke reaches you in minutes. Food goes through the liver first, where a large share of the THC converts into 11-hydroxy-THC: after an edible that metabolite reaches concentrations equal to or above THC itself, against a small fraction when you inhale. That is why an edible feels different. The later arrival and the longer run are a separate matter — absorption through the gut is slow, erratic and depends on what is already in there.
Most people feel it somewhere between half an hour and two hours. The peak usually lands an hour and a half to three hours in, and on a full stomach full effect can take four hours or more. It holds anywhere from 4 to 12 hours depending on dose; 6 to 8 is typical for a moderate one. After a large dose, official guidance in several states warns something may still be felt the next day — controlled next-day testing of oral THC found no measurable impairment, only mild self-reported drowsiness.
That gap is where almost every difficult edible story comes from: nothing at the forty-five minute mark, a second piece, and then both of them arriving together.
Does eating beforehand help?
It changes the picture more than people expect, and not in the direction most assume. In controlled testing, a full stomach pushed the peak several times later and raised total THC entering the bloodstream by two to three times. So food before an edible means later and more, not gentler.
How much do I eat?
The smallest portion available — commonly 2.5 to 5 mg — and nothing added until you have felt it. Two hours is the official minimum in most states; Colorado says anywhere from 90 minutes to four hours. We would wait the full four.
A chocolate bar scored into segments is easy to divide, but a segment is not a reliable dose: THC does not distribute evenly through chocolate, so adjacent squares can differ. If you want a dose you can count on, buy something portioned into single servings.
Questions people ask
Why did I feel nothing for an hour?
That is normal. It commonly takes half an hour to two, and food in your stomach pushes it later still.
I took too much. How long until it passes?
It passes on its own, and the worst of it is usually behind you a few hours after the peak. Water, somewhere quiet, no more of anything — and nothing on top, because a second dose only moves the finish line.
Can I cut one in half?
You can halve anything, but you get roughly half, not exactly half — neither gummies nor chocolate hold THC evenly throughout. If the exact number matters, a smaller single-serving product beats half of a bigger one.
